Our Italian pilsner is all about clean, harmonious flavours and outstanding drinkability. Classic base malts give just enough sweetness to balance against the hops, which are more prominent here than in other lager styles. Delicate floral and herbal aromas give way to light gooseberry notes and crisp, refreshing bitterness.

Copenhagen 14/9 2024. 33 cl can from Meny, Nordens Plads, Frb. F. White and light blue can in Siren's usual design with lot of lines and dots.

Pours unclear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as paper thin layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with grass and a streak of citrus. Sweet pale malts, bread and grains. Lemon.

Rather strong carbonation. Thin watery, lively and tingling texture. On the verge of being fizzy.

Flavor is moderately intense with a light sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter. Lingers shortly. Finish is rather thin.

A unremarkable Pilsener for the Gluten allergic.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name, ABV% and brewery/country, the can as yet unread; I find it more fun that way!

L- Pale honey, poured clear with a part-covering of white foam.
S- Very mild just some malts for me.
T- Bright, a hoppy-dry note that builds over several seconds [1st sip of beer this evening!]. It also has quite a distinct perfumed note to it too, plus malts coming in late and post-swallow.
F- It's appropriately dry for a a Bohemian pilsener; I'm relieved it hasn't been 'hipstered' by going OTT with shouty hops. Decent levels of malts give balance.
O- Nice, very drinkable and I'd happily drink it again. Now it being Siren it ain't cheap, £3. Would I pay that again? No, not for me though it's interesting to have tried it. Anyway, I feel this is more of a summer beer vs this cold spring.
That pefumed note remains and is a bit of a mystery. Might it be a twist of added Citra hops or similar.... hmm.

Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! The text includes ...'Delicate floral and herbal aromas give way to light gooseberry notes'.
440ml can BB: 11/02/2022. Bought directly from Siren as part of a pick-your own consignment to London.
