Blind-tasted except for the beer's name, ABV% and brewery/country, I haven't read any detail on the can (yet!)...
L- Deep chestnut brown, poured 100% bright and clear. A tiny patch of bubbles in this nucleated glass, unsurprising since it's a quite thumpy 10% ABV.
S- I've a bit of winter congestion but get a good scent from this. I think it's quite 'puddingy' as in Brit Xmas pudding, deep and well developed rich/fruit. We'll see.
T- Jeez, *WOOF*!! For the first 2 seconds I thought, 'very puddingy, yes, and it follows in the taste' and then at about Sip+4-5secs held in my mouth, the ABV% raced through and it is MASSIVE! This continues on further sips. It's honestly more like a 'hard-mixed' short of spirits than a beer, considering it's a not-even-approaching-that-big-really 10% the impact is vast. Possibly the loudest such aspect I've ever encountered in a beer. -- Really hard to know how to rate!
F- Big, rich... polished and yet the SHOUTY ABV% is arguably very blunt, well vs and according to personal tastes.
O- It's OTT for me, it's like a rich/slightly sweet hard-mixed whisky cocktail; staggering for 'just 10% ABV'. Presumably it has been aged in pretty fresh ex-whisky barrels? Interesting to try and I'll finish it but it's way to big and un-subtle for me to buy again.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! ===> It details many facets but nothing re: liquor barrels - how strange...
440ml can £5 BB: 08/01/2022/Canned: 08/01/2021 Bought from BeerMerchants, Kent/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
