Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Very deep chestnut red. Pours with a tiny bit of haze and a 2mm pale-tan foam cap that dissipates to a 1mm ring and patch.
S- Well it's liquor barrel aged! I'm not good at IDing the smell of liquors but this seems more brandy than say whisky.
T- Woah man, scratch the above, that's surely a mega-whisky note. It's pungent yet rounded and smooth.
F- Liquor'ish, quite rich but not quite straying into sweet.
O- You need to tolerate/+ liquor as that is front/centre and the main thing going on here. In fact arguably that is so prominent that little else gets a look in - as you'll have noticed^. Is this good, bad or just one of those things Siren does well for that style - you decide.
A style made for slow-sippin' for me. Likely works better in winter than summer. In conclusion the barrel aging over-dominates, this beer isn't very beer-like, it tastes mostly of whisky and has a couple of beer like aspects; colour and carbonation. As always interesting to try, but darn these beers are $$ so not one I expect to buy again.
Review1946/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> Incredibly exotic lable design with a glittering gold/black/white tactile print lable applied to what could be a half champagne bottle. 'Barrel aged barley wine'. Barrel type not listed.
375ml bottled 09/02/2021 £9.75 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
