Major league barleywine. Bottle. Smooth and nuanced malting and barrel notes.Bottle at Biretenu. All the vintages went really quickly. Worth seeking out.

Blind-tasted, excl. brewery/name/ABV%
L- Very deep red-brown, appears pretty cloudy too. No head was forming on the pour (zero surprise at this ABV%) but raising the pour for the last 100ml has yielded a nice 1Cm mid-tan very creamy looking small-bubble foam cap. That looks like it will linger... ps it does, most impressively + it forms lacing on the way down.
S- A wine note and possibly a mild liquor note too.
T- Ooph, yes the wine comes back. Then quite deep malts, followed by some dryness and a jolt of ABV%. Rinse/repeat.
F- It's pungent, for me it's a slow-sippin' beer. The flavour-journey on the palate is long, maybe 20 seconds even from a small sip... so no virtue rushing.
O- A wine aspect, a spirit aspect. A pretty full-on beer and yet it's that well balanced it's going down very smoothly. BTW the wine-aspect is not over-intrusive though I still wonder if I'll come to positively enjoy wine notes in beer. Would I buy it again, at the price I doubt it. Nice one to try though or as a gift to a beer fan.
Bought from Cambridge Wine Merchants opp. King's College, Cambridge £11.50. A bit of a tourist strip so likely more£ than regular retail px. 375ml bottle, BottledOn: 01/03/2022

On tap. Khaki head with lace. Caramel brown color.

Nice barrels. Whiskey, port, vanilla, oak, plums, figs, raisins. Warming, boozey, but smooth and drinkable. Caramel and toffee malt. Very enjoyable offering!
