i also had the citra edition of this, but this loral version was the winner for me, partially because we had it so fresh at the brewery, but also because everyone seems to think loral is a hop for lagers, like a noble thing that needs to only be in that type of beer, so to put it in a low alcohol but interesting hazy pale ale is so gender bending, i was all over this, and i think its one of the better expressions of loral so far, especially in this context, really thrives on some of the grainy rawness of the base, and this is dry, clean despite its appearance, and real nice pale ale with low bitterness, unexpectedly bold for a hop i sometimes think of as subtle, which i also like. a little more orange toned than the citra version was, but still so light, some intriguing spiciness in the nose, more of a lemon lime flavor profile, showing hints of saaz and even hallertau blanc, this must have common lineage, but i seem to get more from it now than i ever do in the lager beers that use it, some oils that i did expect, plus pretty permanent pallet permeation, palpable, yummy. the ferment is decently clean, and while this is still less refined than the very best of them, i appreciate it for showing me something new, and its still real drinkable. its impressive what siren is doing, so many clever ideas and so much solid execution, humble little spot they have, but a mecca to visit and it was sick to do it with the boys. i was blown away by the beers here! this hop slaps, and they prove it with this beer. more like this please.
