Growlette brought home and poured into a thistle.
The appearance was a fairly nice looking dark amber to nutty brown color capped by a finger's worth of white foamy head. This fell off fairly quick to leave some stringy sliding lace.
The aroma was absolutely fantastic! A showcase of caramel malts, rich and sweet with a dry nutty backing then underscored by a sly minty meshing with dried dark fruit. I was wondering where the peat or heather or herbal qualities would show up and well, I guess I could say some sweet heather/floral/herbal character came across in an ever so slight tea-like fashion.
The flavor definitely leaned into a wonderful sweet dried malty fruity content flowing over some nutty dryness. Semi-smooth and dry caramel to minty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a kind sessionability about it. Though the ABV felt on par, it did feel like I could really pound this down if I wanted to. Carbonation felt pretty far under but I didn't mind too much. Exceptionally smooth rolling along my tongue.
Overall, it's almost cloying in the feel but so hard to knock when the aromas and flavors help to make this the awesome beer it is. I would definitely have this again.
