22 ounce bottle, into a snifter. Big burst of foamy head to start, but it quickly disappears, leaving lots of lacing. The beer is light amber, nearly clear.
I won't argue with whoever listed this beer as an American Barleywine, but it's not far off English barleywine territory. It's got a pretty light body, and a smooth, lightly caramel taste. There's definite oak there, and some hops, with a lightly bitter finish.
Overall, it's not as complex as the best barleywines, nor as intense. But for a lighter barleywine, with a nice balance of flavors, it's pretty well done!
