16oz pour at Nectar in Kendall Yards, Spokane, for $6.50. Standard classifies this as a Patersbier. I'm assuming someone classified it as a California Common because Patersbier was not an option.
Hazy, apricot-amber color, with an inch of eggshell white head.
Bready malts and some spicy esters. Not much hop aroma.
Taste is like the aroma. Malt forward, with the spicy, peppery Belgian-like esters being the other dominant flavor. Hops are mildly floral and in the background.
Fairly light bodied, with a thinner mouthfeel than I was expecting.
Odd beer. I have no idea what a Patersbier is supposed to taste like, but I enjoyed it.
