A righteous blend of stouts aged for 18 months in Westland Distillery peated whisky barrels, and 17 months in Heaven Hill 8 year old bourbon barrels. Of the “Enemy” series, this one is both the lightest on the peat, as well as the most moderate ABV. Loads of coconut and vanilla on the nose and luscious chocolate covered cherries linger on after the first sip. Delightfully rich, but not clownishly thick.

Dark brown body topped with a dense, creamy, khaki colored head, thick sheaths of foam coat the interior of the glass. Nice smell; rich with cocoa and sweet chocolate with a faint wisp of bourbon; vanilla. Full-flavored stout; mirrors a lot of the smell qualities; faint touch of peat in the background; whiskey. Heavy body; big residual sugar coats the palate; a touch of alcohol warmth.
The beer brings together some nice barrel aging elements of peated whiskey and bourbon. None of it is too intense or in-your-face, but instead lurks in the background. Well-rounded and very satisfying.
Served at 58° F; no canning date info seen.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high light tan head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a narrow collar around the edge.
S: Moderate aromas of peated whiskey are present in the nose.
T: The taste starts out with flavors of peated whiskey but also has notes of bourbon and associated coconut.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this stout has interesting contrasting aromas of peat and coconuts.

Pours golden brown with a delightful sour finger mousse-like head of foam leaving gorgeous lattice on the glass. Aroma strongly smells of roasted malt and wood or resin character. Taste is definitely smooth roasted malt with an aftertaste of chocolate, or more accurately, cocoa. This is a solid imperial stout and deserves placement with its' peers.

16oz can from Tavour. Aroma is a boozy blend of bourbon and chocolate. Pretty boozy up front in the taste too, sweet chocolate following the sharp alcohol warmth. No adjuncts, just a good old fashioned BBA stout blend.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, whiskey, cocoa and dark dried fruit. Flavor is dark toasted malt, whiskey, cocoa, lactose raisins and woody oak. Oaky whiskey finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant, whiskey forward stout that leans to a mild stout profile. Good cocoa flavor and some dark fruit, although that is subsumed into the whiskey flavor. The creamy body adds to the milk stout character. Not getting much peat, although peated barrels were listed as being used, but it stands fine without smoke. Mellower than the last Enemy I had, though perhaps a bit more whiskey barrel forward. Hits the spot.
