new england style double ipa, i love the name and i love the beer, juicy and modern, not too big on the grain side or in terms of body, and with a lot of fruity uniqueness running through it, slightly boozy maybe, but it drinks light for what it is, not hazy for the sake of it, not messy, nice from the tap at the brewery, this place is really cool. pale yellow to straw color on this one, a short lived white head, and a big fresh nose of waxy raw floral honey, cantaloupe at peak ripeness, green grape, meyer lemon, and bitter orange zest, a cool mix of varietals it seems. the flavor doesnt sag from the nose at all, more melon and green fruits, some light corny sort of sweetness from the mash, less starchy and raw to me than a lot of hazy types, and isnt super palate coating or anything. it has a relatively long finish where the alcohol flourishes with the danky hop residuals, but this is well proportioned overall, not too intense, fresh as heck, and real nicely done on the whole. i think this is the first hoppy beer i have had from these guys, didnt know they did this sort of thing, but its dialed in, distinct, and delicious!
