hazy ipa, not actually done with fresh hops i do not reckon, but another well made beer from these guys. this is more bitter for a hazy, more northwest style, pretty bold on the finish, but overall quite smooth and well refined for the style. its on the edge of a double at this strength, and it has the body to match, wheaty maybe underneath all the hops, its well grounded and balanced without being sweet, no richer crystal malts or anything here. the hops are a little oily on the palate to me, with some resinous pine through it, sweet and bitter orange alike, a melon layer, but maybe not the most interesting hop profile in the world. the interest here for me is in its boldness and freshness, this seems brand new, has some modern juiciness to it, and just a little alcohol. its good but its not life changing, and i have yet to be really floored by one of their hoppy beers, although i just started dipping into them last week. its been the wild stuff to impress me most from these guys, and now that all of that is happening at their sister brewery, i assume quality on the clean beers will have room to mature here. had a blast checking out both breweries last week for the first time, love what they are up to!
