so good to get back in here, one of my favorite spots in seattle, low key, always classy and good, mellow energy, great service, just rad! they had some great new ones this time through, including this new zealand hopped rice lager, which is fresh and flavorful, predictably well made, a little fuller feeling i reckon than many ive had in this style space before, and its real well hopped, a pleasant drinker. blonde with a somewhat shorter head retention but lots of life on the palate. a fresh nose of green melon and its rind, clover in bloom, underripe strawberry, and just a hint of honey, some sweetness with the grain, which goes beyond rice of course, that element isnt really a huge factor for me in this. the flavor is hoppy but its all early and its never bitter, very modern, kiwi fruit, hard green pear and its skin, a little white wine, but this isnt over the top new zealand all floral and thiol forward, its well integrated without taking over, the beer stays light and refreshing even with some structure, nice crisp lagering, close to neutral and real tidy, fine carbonation, and overall a contemporary and delicious lager that doesnt need to be overanalyzed, not super rice apparent, but whatever. i love it here, the beer is constantly exciting and diverse, the food is good, and the space is so chill. cant wait to go back again...
