Cloudy dark amber or brown with a thin off-white head. Some sediment is apparent. Aroma is that of a hard candy or a candied fruit—sugared plums, maybe, or candied prunes—with a bit of cinnamon. Taste is very sour, almost unpalatably so, and a little sweet, like a homemade plum wine that's begun to turn. The fig doesn't really come through. The lactose probably helps smooth it out, but it's really hard to get past the sour. Light to medium bodied.

Described as a 'plum sour ale with lactose and figs'. Poured from a can to a handled mug.

No head, no lacing, flat appearance, but the dark fruitiness - like a plum pudding - gives hints of what's to follow.

Smells fruity, sweet, and a little spicy. Once again, exactly like a Christmas dessert. (You can see where this is going.)

Opens with a sour hit, followed by immense fruitiness, closing on notes of caramel, fig, and cookie. Just sour enough on the outside to balance that sweetness. (The brewery calls it a sweet and sour beer, and they are not kidding.) Absolutely delicious.

Just a little bit of carbonation and sweetness, with a surprisingly dry feel.

Absolutely not a session beer, and definitely something for the winter, but for what it is, it's absolutely magnificent, one of the best fruit beers and/or sour beers I've ever had.
