all kinds of fruit and hops in this thing, vanilla and lactose too, and the flavor is excellent, but this is pretty raw as they go, not refined like i have come to expect from these guys, but that didnt stop us from enjoying it. its a pretty ugly beer, only lightly pink from the strawberries and boysenberries its made with, instead looking super murky and sedimented, dull in the glass even though the head is tall, real dense. aroma and flavor are way brighter and fresher than the appearance, where sweet strawberry and tangy blackberry notes come right out, jammy to a degree, that aspect accentuated by the milk sugar here, which definitely sweetens this up. strawberry in front of boysenberry for me. i get some serious lemon and melon notes from the hops, herbaceous and fresh, some white wine notes there too that go oddly well with the vanilla, and it tastes fresh to me. the vanilla is a little strong as this warms, i dont tend to like desserty ipa, but the vanilla and sweetness seems to replace normal hop bitterness in the style, and it works here better than it usually does. the hops are well dosed and as forward as the fruit here, which keeps it in the ipa realm pretty well. a neat and exotic mix of flavors in this, fuller bodied and a bit heavy to drink a lot of, but better than many of its peers. not at all what i have come to know these guys for, but its tasty beer nevertheless. they can really do it all here. a little refinement would go a long way for this one too though...

Twin Berry, a delicious milkshake IPA with Cascade, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, Strawberries, Boysenberries, Vanilla and Lactose. This is one of the better versions of this style I’ve had. It’s not overly sweet, the berries really shine through, and the body is quite light. The hops come through more on the nose, but offer some nice earthy, catty and grassy bitterness on the palate.
