16oz can at share. Dark brown pour, small foamy beige head. First off, this was amazing, just so much going on. Fruity, roasty, sweet, butter, a cornucopia of flavors and aroma. Blew my mind.

absolutely positively one of the best black ipa types i have ever had, so good even my hop fearing dad loved it, really phenomenal stuff here. its coal black in the glass with a creamy khaki head on it that leaves rich web lacing as it drinks. aroma and flavor of heavy roasted barley, unmalted, near burnt, with some very bitter traits to it but also cool nuances of cigar, smoke, espresso, and raw dark chocolate. the grain base is just incredible, and its real smooth in texture, high glide for something this dark and strong, and very little alcohol presence too. it would be killer every without all the hops. the hops have candied citrus and stone fruit properties to me, bold enough to cut through the dark grain and add an element of freshness to this, lemon and orange and bitter grapefruit. they have some bitterness of their own. and even though this is smooth and mellow to drink, its very bitter, you have to like that sort of thing. subtle grilled peach, fresh spruce, and weed are also there in the hop profile, and the back and forth between this and the dark earthy roasted malt is just tremendous, real complex, fabulous! almost creamy feeling, maybe some oats in the mix, fuller but soft as can be. flavor stays on the tongue awhile too. a perfect beer for a cold and rainy fall day, and the highlight of our recent visit to the brewery here!

Pours a murky dark brown with a khaki colored head. Opaque with some light brown translucency around the edges. A shit ton of lacing as I drink the beer down. It is definitely an attractive looking beer, and more brown than black, as often experienced with this style.
As I pour from the crowler the aroma really fills the air. Earthy black tea-like smell, ripe mango and pineapple, a little pine and a lot of lemon pith. The tropical fruit adds a soft, juicy sweetness to the nose. A really nice aroma.
The flavor starts out with a black tea like earthy note, a very subtle milk chocolate sweetness, sweet mango and pineapple, shifting to bitter pine and lemon pith mid palate.
Low to medium carbonation with a long, dry finish defined by lemon pith and peel.
This black IPA is neither dank nor roasty, to pick a couple flavors common in the style. The predominant flavors are lemon citrus and lemon pith dryness and bitterness on the finish, and the tropical fruit, which I absolutely love. This beer pairs perfectly on a cool, Labor Day evening, with thoughts of Fall in mind. Another excellent beer from Überbrew.
