Very booze forward, with some molasses and a bizarre bitter flavor throughout. I guess this is what timber tastes like? A bit of clove too. Nothing in the way of anything exciting like fruit or dark chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin and watery which is what I would expect from a quad but it almost feels like I can taste the water in the beer. Very odd. Must've picked a bad bottle.

Only my third from Belgian Original Maltbakery, I think I understand why this master brewer roasts the malts at his home and then is a gypsy brewer. It's because he can manage overhead and still gets to perfect the malts like he seems to with Full Moon 12, a delicious malt-bomb. I was going to have 12 with dessert, but I sipped it once and decided to forget dessert. This is a very rich brew, viscous, figgy, complex like fruit cake and Looks great with a full tan head on a dark bod.
I found 12 at Grape & Grain near the Moorabbin train station in Melbourne, a great find and 12 was one of the many Belgians I bought there.

L- Super-deep chestnut/ruby (held in front of a halogen bulb). Clear, though some sediment remains in the botttle. Pours with a 3mm pale tan super-fine bubble head. [10 mins later: Holding well].
S- It seems subtle to me, I just get a mild fruity/liquor note.
T- I had to let this rest in my mouth for the flavour to fully come through. It's deeply malty with facets of timber from the barrel ageing.
F- 10.2% is pretty hefty, this conveys in the rich mouth-feel (rich, not sweet!).
O- It's very nice indeed. If you have wine and dessert wine, then this could be a dessert beer. One to slowly sup after dinner along with dessert.
330ml bottle BB: 14-Nov-2024 [Got to laugh at the ridiculous bureaucratic precision of these EU mandated BB: dates!]

De cervezasespeciales. En copa Teku. Jugando a Skyland. Con queso Pok. Ni rastro del roble, pero perfil de frutas oscuras muy claro y rico en nariz y boca. Unica pega: la sobrecarbonatacion

Pours amber red with a dense light khaki colored foam head. Smells real nutty and oaky, like almonds in a woody oak barrel, with sour fruit, apple, dried fruits like apricot, dark fruit, prune, banana, dates, caramel malt, some fresh green almond notes, with mild hops. Tastes mostly fruity and oaky, with dark fruits prominent, black grape, raisin, prune, plum, dates, fig, caramel malt, thin molasses, fresh green almond, earthy leafy hops, a hint of spice, with nutty almond woody oak barrel notes. Feels lighter medium bodied, creamy and slick with moderate smooth carbonation. Overall a nice Belgian strong dark ale.

Belgian Original Maltbakery & Brewery "Triporteur Full Moon 12"
11.2 fl. oz. brown glass bottle. Freshness dating is unknown due to a damaged label.
$3.75 @ Roger Wilco, Pennsauken, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a very dark brown body that appears almost black in the glass but not quite. When held to the light it reveals some ruby colored highlights. The head is a short cap of tan foam. In the nose it's decidedly malty and grainy, but also a touch woody. The flavor remains malty but it's not overly sweet, and it's more complex with notes of brown sugar, cocoa powder, dark raisins, dried fig, and a dusting of soft spiciness. The alcohol at 10.2% never really shows although I believe it's got to be helping to dry it in the finish. It lingers for some time as the malt erodes and some leafy hops and woodiness emerge. The mouthfeel is beyond oily, and quite dextrinous. It's full bodied and remarkably smooth with a very fine-bubbled moderate carbonation. This is a really satiating beer, and with it's rich maltiness the best thing I can liken it to is a Scottish Wee Heavy. An English barleywine would be more bitter, and an Old Ale would have some brettanomyces to it. I really like this, but keep in mind that I am a fan of malty beers. It's a great after dinner or late night while reading or watching TV sipper.

11.2 ounce bottle, thanks to Brutaltruth for this brew! Back label says best before 08RI 2251204 and I have no idea what that means. Served in a chalice, the beer pours a cloudy dark brown color with about a half inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. The brew is mostly sweet and fruity, it smells like oak, dark bread, dark fruit, banana and candi sugar. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some candied orange, clove and brown sugar flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this, certainly worth a try for sure. Glad I got to try it!
