From notes
Appearance: Ruby red with a thumb of head and did not lace with solid retention and medium carbonation in body.
Smell: Dry bread and caramel malt with warming bringing out the malt more. Decent potency, but very basic.
Taste: The whole beer tastes as if had during a sandstorm, as there is a sandy note the permeates and muddles the entirety of the beer. What is under it is caramel malt with a hint of cherries and herbal hops. It promises to be something good, but it's obscured by the sand note.
Mouthfeel: The entirety of the beer tastes obscured by that sandy no, and the caramel malt with the barest herb touch is no exception, as the sandy taste relegates it to the background, leaving the beer far too dry in taste. The carbonation is trying it's best to brighten the beer up, as it offers a sudsy note, but it just can't cut through. The transitioning, again could be good, there is something there buried behind the sand taste.
Drinkability: Medium body, and settles well, but the sandy dryness just kills the desire to go on, as it can't offer enough as it's quaffability, malt sweetness, or even herbal bitter touches are obscured in that sand note.
Final Thoughts: My last notes on this beer are get rid of the sandstorm and thumbs up. That's really all that needs to be said here. If you are at Kilannan, I would forgo this offering and go with their Alt.
