Leif's Lager is a lightly smoked American Lager named after the famed Icelandic Explorer Leif Erickson who was the first European to set foot on the North American continent. We made sure it had our signature, if ever so faint.

16 oz can into a pokal.
L: SRM 4 pours 95% clear honey amber color with a thin white head that quickly recedes to creamy edge foam, steady carbo, no lacing.
S: Caramelized malts, distant apple, sticky leaf pile smoke, wet hay.
T: Gently sweet, grains, a hint of earthy light smoke, background notes of bread, a distant corn note, a light green tea note, a hint of honey.
F: Lightly brisk then fairly smooth medium-bodied mouthfeel with a medium length finish.
O: Slightly sweet. Slightly complex. A lovely tasting lightly smoky Lager that is very well balanced and is easy to drink. It is very good in its style.

From a 16oz can. No date on the can.
This is a beautiful looking clear golden colored beer. There's a bit of a carbonation stream rising in the glass to produce a 1 finger white head. The head retention is quite good. There's just a tiny amount of lacing on the glass.
The aroma of smoke hit me while pouring the beer. Up close I do get the smoke and I also get a pleasing grain/biscuit aroma. The biscuit is slightly buttery smelling.
Taste - The buttery biscuit and smoke seem to trade off as which is the main flavor. It seems to start off with buttery biscuit. This fades and the smoke really kicks into play. This fades and the biscuit comes back once again only to fade to smoke on the finish. One thing that I am noticing is, when the biscuit is in play more, I am getting a bubblegum flavor in the beer. I have to wonder if there was some Belgian yeast used in the beer.
This beer has a nice feeling. Clean, and clear feeling. Smooth. Crisp.
Damn, this is one hell of a beer.

Can. More of a golden orange than an amber. Cloudy. White head with a little lace.
Has a fruitiness to it, to go along with the smoke. Reminds me of red apple skin. Biscuity, bready, and smoked malts. Not super heavy on the smoke. Minimal ham notes, but definitely there.
Smooth and easy drinking. A very enjoyable lager.

Pours a slight hazed light golden color with good head and lacing. Smell is smoked malts and grassy citrus hops. Taste very good Light Smokey malts and citrus hops with baked bread and greasy notes. Mouth is lightly smoked for Hammerheart and does not dominate easy to drink a pounder.

16oz can. No dating found.
Slightly cloudy, pale gold colored body. Thin white cap. No lacing.
Aroma of smoked ham and lager malt.
Taste is obscured, but not dominated, by the smoke flavor. Trying to stand tall are some bright, spicy hops. Has a solid bready malt base.
Medium mouth feel. Crisp finish.
One must have appreciation for smoked beer to get through this brew. I would think this to be a better pairing with a smoked meat or fish rather than on its own.

From a 750mL mini-growler:
Appearance: Gold with slight haze, good head.
Smell: Bready with a little bit of smoked ham.
Taste: Follows the smell, starts with some sweet malt and finishes with some mild smoked ham. Very easy to drink.
Overall: This is a very nice lightly smoked lager from Hammerheart. Practically a session beer compared to most of their offerings, this beer could make some converts to the smoked beer altar that is Hammerheart!
