Thanks to Ozzylizard for sending this my way.
Dark amber to almost leather in hue. A firm tan head builds to almost 2 fingers. Great retention. Clumpy lacing.
Aroma pumps rye. Earthy, peppery, flexing rye. There is an almost fruity, deep brown bread malt note that also chimes in. And the hops are definitely carrying some pine, citrus, and overall earthy dry bitterness.
Flavor follows the nose beautifully. But there is a certain meaty malt bill that gives a hefty blanket of subdued, low level sweetness. There's also a smooth, gentle smoky note that comes in slowly.
Medium weight on the mouthfeel with mild carbonation and a firm, earthy pine-meets-citrus rind bitterness to finish.
Overall, rye is the star. God bless the rye.

Jörmungandr’s Rye from HammerHeart. Four pack of 16 fl oz cans, picked up at France 44, 17/07/25, $ 16.72 (Including tax)/$ 0.261 per fl oz. In the walk-in cooler at the seller, this spent the nights in hotel reefers and daytime in an insulated cooler with other cold cans and bottles. Reviewed 01/08/25 (Review 3555). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 45.5 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 52.8 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), hazy.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. Under direct light, same with small amount of precipitate. When rear-lite, hazy red and translucent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour). Cream, high density with a rocky top, average retention, dropping to a 1.2 cm crown and a cap.
Lacing – Good. A mountainous mass of tiny to near-microscopic bubbles attached to the dissolving crown by multiple thin columns
Aroma – 4.25 – Rye!
Flavor – 4.25 – Begins slightly bitter with rye and hints of smoke. No alcohol (6.3 % ABV, according to the label). A ghostly floral suggestion finishes No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Mild gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium: Watery with a nod to syrupy: Soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Artist credit – Nate Burns! It’s good to find a brewer with adequate balls to make a rye beer that totally smells and tastes like rye! Rye beers are something I seek out but can rarely find – back in the day, I used to buy Terrapin’s Rye Pale Ale by the case, but it no longer makes it to my area (if they even still make it).

From a 16oz can with no date on it.
This is a dark amber colored beer in the glass. the beer has a bit of clarity to it when I hold it to the light. The head is a nice sized 2 finger tan color. Very fluffy and frothy looking, and has great retention and very clingy looking lacing on the glass.
Holy cow the aroma is a total rye bomb here. This scent is just off the charts with it. No smoke in the aroma that Hammerheart is known for, but I'm good with it. Very pleasing with floral notes as well.
The sharp flavor of the rye hits right away. This is a pleasing flavor to me. I actually get a faint hint of a smoked malt in the middle, but I don't think they smoked the malts here. There's dark chocolate notes and dark fruit hints on the back.
The body seems to have a feeling that builds. Very full overall. Smooth. Clingy feeling.
Wow, this is one heck of a beer. I know rye malts can be divisive for some, but, if you're at all a fan of rye, you should try this beer.

16 oz can into a shaker pint glass.
L: SRM 39 Pours mainly black with a 1/4" creamy khaki head that has good retention, low carbo, some sediment in suspension, medium complex broken lacing.
S: A big note of rye, caramelized grains, a suggestion of dark fruits.
T: Gushing rye, a fairly assertive hop note, slightly sharp, pleasantly bitter, has a subtle tanginess, caramelized grains, strong black tea, a little bit grassy, it is subtly pale.
F: Brisk with a little snap then medium to med-heavy bodied mouthfeel with a medium-long slightly dry finish.
O: Large tastes of rye command this beer. It is bitter and tangy for the most part. A med-long dry finish accompanies tall rye grass. Overall it is lightly intense and full-flavored. It is excellent in its style.
