Served from tap in a snifter at Firkin.
This brewery is new to me, but if they have a rum-barreled pumpkin ale, they at least seem to have a proper head on their collective shoulders. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear tawny topped by a finger of dirty white foam. The nose comprises rum spice (shocker), vanilla bean, and pumpkin pie spices. The taste brings in more of the same, the spice ante upped a small deal, some mild oak and toasted pumpkin seed notes added for effect. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sticky-ish finish. Overall, a very nice introduction to this brewery, an offering that doesn't let the barrel overshadow the base. I look forward to trying more from these guys in the future.
