Goblet served at Carson’s Brewery Taproom in Evansville, Indiana on a chilly evening.
Appearance: Deep ruby amber.
Aroma: Sweet and woody charred bourbon barrel, through and through. From the nose, I already sense that this is going to be a slow sipper, as the bourbon comes through very prominently.
Taste: Sweet and smoky cherry wood, with some tangy fruitiness on the palate. Strong but smooth. Finishes a little warm (fitting that this is considered a winter warmer) but cozy and sippable. Enjoyed this one, but it took me at least a half hour to finish due to it’s richness. Not to say this was hard to drink, just that it’s a big, sturdy brew that begs to be enjoyed in a mellow setting. Nice!

Normally I shy away from this style because there is too much spice for me but this is well done. Just enough spice and barrel without being crazy.
