500ml can:
Yogurty. I suspect Simcoe. Hoppy tang. Vague fruit. Lactose. Vanillin.
Smooth, wet, full-bodied, overcarbonated, unrefreshing.
Not one of Roughtail's finest hoppy ales, but generally enjoyable.

06/30/18 impression:
Yogurty and tangy. Lactose is prolly in there.
Not real hoppy at all, but enjoyable with a tangy finish.
Low B- / WORTHY
[NOTE: Other reviewers are reporting a bluish purple body and are suggesting this was brewed with berries. My 4 pack (which does depict a dragon hoarding various berries) has poured an objective hazy copper and has not tasted anything like berries. Not sure what the deal is...]

Type: 16-oz, draft
Glass: Clear shaker pint glass
From: The Bearded Lady in Fort Worth, Texas
Price: $7.50
Purchased: Dec. 21, 2017
Consumed: Dec. 21, 2017
Reviewed as: Milkshake IPA
Misc.: N/A
Was very dark in there, but poured what appeared to be an amber murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Could not see any bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. World-class spotty spiderweb lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled boysenberry, blueberry, blackberry, Mosaic, Denali (thank you Modern Times Critical Band!), mixed berry, lime, pine, mango, stone fruit and lactose. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted boysenberry, blueberry, blackberry, mixed berry, dish soap, lime, Mosaic, mango, stone fruit, lactose and vanilla. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was my first milkshake IPA and it certainly won’t be my last. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Blueish purplish medium-brownish hazy liquid in my pint glass. Initial head nice, fairly fluffy, some sticky lacing remains. Unique-looking, soft-pulpy-like DIPA appearance.
Smell is actually plenty of fresh grapefruit juice, and a distant hint of berry.
I don’t like berries in beer, simply put, but I wanted to try this anyway because it’s well-rated and the brewery is local to my in-law.
To my surprise this is balanced and tasty, with a blend of hoppy grapefruit and then pleasant blueberry/ blackberry-ish notes.
I examine the can further and look for the date. On the very bottom it reads 11/22/27. Underneath that it reads “Boysenberry.”
I suppose that indicates the seasonal berry they highlight in their batches? Who knows.
But it sure drinks well, feels smooth and creamy, and leaves a slightly candied berry-centric taste to enjoy after each sip. The balance is impressive, avoiding a palate wreck with the sweeter malt-back fruits. The lactose and flaked grains must be to thank for that.
I may have to visit this brewery when I’m in that town again. More of this in the new year is in order.

On tap. Pours a cartoonish, hazy blueish-purple color with a thin, white head that doesn't leave lacing. Nose is berries and citrus hops. Taste is tart berries, candied orange peel, and citrus hops with grapefruit in the finish. Medium body and medium carbonation.
This is an unique iteration of the fruit IPA. ABV is well hidden and it drinks more like a 5.5 or 6 percent beer. They must've used a fair amount of hops to get them to survive the fruit base. Interesting IPA from a brewery that specializes in them.
