Bought from the Monthly Microbrewed Beer Club. (I don't subscribe; I just enjoy rummaging through their remainders.)
Polterweiss is very middle of the road. (I'm reminded of the neighboring west Texas joke that "the middle-of-the-road is for dead armadillos"... but I won't say that here.)
Polterweiss Looks entirely average, OK foam that dissipates to a sickly, cloudy wheat base. Smells of some banana and mild fruits, but not what I was hoping for on this warm day. Really the same on Taste whose finish is refreshing, but not much to think about. There is enough substance in my mouth to take another sip of this light hefe.
As for my micro-review of Roughtail... They are ten years old and deserve decent credit for upping the ante in Oklahoma brewers from OK to better. Roughtail enjoys being different and challenged many-a-palate with hoppy adventures. And for improving the culture (beer at least in OK, Roughtail deserves pretty good Overall Hugs.

A Microbrewed Club offering. Pours a gold color with a small white head that lasts quite a while. No discernable aroma. Tastes of grains, spices and a hint of banana. Crisp and dry with a nice tangy flavor.

Appearance: Yellow-toned, bearably hazed appearance with a quickly evaporating, white head.
Smell: Crackling wheat, a snippet of banana chips. A thinning yeastiness, spritz of lemony citrus.
Taste: Sweetish, lemony taste of crisp, oven-dried wheat. Slight hint of abridged wildflower honey. Subtly phenolic, light hints of 'nana. Near nil hop elements, leaving it leaning towards its initial light sweetness through the less-than-crisp finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A decent, effective hefe that certainly plays it safe for a refreshing albeit no-frills beer, though I'll take that over some clove-bomb or oppressive estery iteration.

From a BOM can into a pint glass. Pour had robust head of white to off-white foam and an opaque golden body. On the nose are hints of a classic hef with banana most evident and clove as a secondary note. Notes of a solid wheat backbone are also evident. Taste matches well with bready notes playing well with the sweeter banana-like flavor and a dash of hop keeping things interesting. Feel is medium bodied with a bit of carbonation on the tongue and a lingering wheaty, banana flavor. Fun, refreshing beer with a great can.

12oz can. Poured out a cloudy, straw-yellow color with a good-sized, head of white foam. It left sudsy sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of banana, clove, bread and cracked wheat. Sweet banana, bread, wheat and caramel taste with a spicy/yeasty bite.
