2016 on tap at the brewery.
Very roasty, but watery at the same time. Falls short on a lot of flavors. Probably wouldn't revisit this brew. Lacking a lot.

Opaque with a two finger khaki head that left dots and streaks of lacing.
Some roasty choco on the nose. Not a lot, but it's there. More on the palate with a hint of molasses and dried cherries.
Low carbonation. Almost creamy mouthfeel. Dry, slightly bitter cocoa finish.
The label is different and no wax dip, so maybe they worked on the recipe? That's a good thing.

Type: 12-oz. draft
Glass: Clear tall slender shaker pint glass
From: Brody’s Burgers & Beer in Jamul, Calif.
Price: $6.50
Purchased: June 4, 2016
Consumed: June 4, 2016
Misc.: N/A
Specifically went to this place for the first time to try this beer. After all, I’m a fan of Jesse James (the cowboy, not that car guy) and I’ve always wanted to try Aftershock beer. Have some high hopes on this one.
Poured an almost black color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki, tan, frothy head when I got it. No bubbles coming up from the bottom. World-class, foamy, spiderweb lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Initially was not getting anything on the nose. Like nothing. Worked at it and got roasted chocolate, smooth dry cocoa, dark toast, bitter dark chocolate, crayon and some booziness late. (Smell - 3.75)
More flavors on the tongue than in the nose, getting thick dark chocolate, molasses, wet cocoa nibs, black coffee powder, burnt toast, roasty notes and toasted chocolate. (Taste - 3.50)
Full body. Thick texture. Average carbonation. Long, toasty, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
This was decent, but not something I’d have again. A bit disappointed overall. (Overall - 3.75)

Pours opaque black with a half-inch tan head that remains as a ring on top and leaves strings of lace. Lots of cocoa aroma and flavor with a distinct bitter hop finish.

22oz bottle with heavy wax coating
slight roast, acidic fruit nose with sour dark cherry taste not bad but this isn't an "imperial American stout"
maybe QC a bit more and forget the wax. I'll give it another chance in the future preferably on tap.
