The dearth of reviews on this one speaks volumes. Not only was it a limited release, but they did so in a mixed 12-pack, which is clearly not the people's choice. I got lucky when I hit one of my local bottle shops on a day when they were opening these 12-packs to put out in their mix-a-six area & I got the pick of the litter. I also get credit for the approved photo (he said rather immodestly).

From the bottle: "Count Traveler is a captivating citrus wheat beer bewitched by the taste of real blood orange. Bold citrus is awakened by the sweet, floral flavors of hibiscus, resulting in a satisfying sip for the Traveling soul."; "The [underlined] American Craft Shandy".

I really agitated the beer in the bottle as shandys/radlers may and should be cloudy. I then Pop!ped the cap & commenced an aggro pour, just to make sure that the Count was angrified. He rose up to form three fingers of deadly-looking, foamy, rocky, sandstone-colored head before I made the sign of the cross and backed down. Color was a cloudy miasma in a shade of Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was quite citrusy with notes of lemon and orange, plus the wheat malt base gave it an added sharpness, just like the Count's teeth. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was very pleasant, not as tart as I had expected, with a fruity sweetness that put me in mind of Trix cereal from when I was a kid. My tastes have morphed wildly since my salad days and I really eschew cold cereal with milk, but when I was a wee lad, I loved that stuff. Trix was corn, not wheat, but the citrusy taste of lemon and orange was what I really remember about it and this beer was evocative of that flavor. Gee, it was a pleasant, unobtrusive drink, so I wonder why they chose to release it in such an offhanded way. Willy Loman does NOT approve of my saying "Gee" as it is a boy's word, but this took me back to my childhood. Finish was semi-sweet, tending towards, but not achieving semi-dry. Gee, I hope that they give this another chance.
