Poured out of a 12 ounce can. Nice head arises, some minor lacing. Has a malty, roasted grain smell. I couldn't detect much, if any pumpkin flavor; however the malty richness with some mild bite on the tongue was pleasant. Finished with some cleansing bitterness on the back of the tongue. If you are looking for pumpkin flavor you will be disappointed, but if you want to enjoy a milder scotch ale this fits the bill.

undated (but certainly 2015) can served in a Belgian snifter.
Appearance: clear dark brown body with a tan head that soon reduces to a thin partial coat and ring.
AROMA: medium and dark roasted grains with some pumpkin that appears as generic winter squash.
Flavor: follows the aroma. Lasting medium and dark roasted grain flavor with vague vegetative squash component.
Feel: smooth. medium+ body with near medium carbonation.

The 2015 version of this beer is better than previous attempts. This beer is a dark mahogany color with thin tan head. Very light aroma of dark fruit and peat. No pumpkin noticeable in the nose. Taste is similar but there is a more lasting richness this time around. Almost creamy in the mouthfeel, and luscious followed by a fleeting dryness from the hops. But again, I am not picking up any discernible pumpkin flavor. Maybe just a hint if I try very hard, but if I didn't know it was a pumpkin ale I would just say it's a well made scotch ale. Very tasty, just not any pumpkin aroma or flavor to be had.
Original review:
Had this one out of a bomber "in season" Nov 2014. A more lasting, noticeable pumpkin character in the nose and taste would have made this a better beer. Tried a sample on tap at the brewery from left over kegs late March 2015 and there was no pumpkin left in the flavor or aroma at all.

Aroma = malty sweetness. Disappointing balance and little to no pumpkin notes.
