Another selection from March Madness 2023. This is a rare relatively high abv saison from de garde. For awhile back in the day, their bu scene at 2.3% abv was where its at. I can't really discern how the selection of saison or wild ale comes about, but here we are.

Pours a light amber color. Puffs a hearty white head, over 1". Aroma hits of apricot, leather, hay, beach, lemon yogurt. The taste is plenty sour, one of the more sour beers I've had from them. Citrus and stone fruit now. A tad more acidic than desired in the mouthfeel, often seems to bind with a higher abv in that regard. Southtown girls won't blow you away. Has this imperialized white wine feel throughout. Lemon, green apple and white grape notes on the backend.

Get really ugly looking at the end of the bottle. Liquified wood. The Chicago Cubs are 9 games behind the Brewers at the start of the day. Light caramel influence, one of the maltier beers from this brewery I've ever had.

Bottle. White head. Gusher.

Awesome blend of saison and Iris like lambic. Dry floral hops. Fantome spice. Earthy and zesty. A bit or orange peel and cracked black pepper. Light citrus. Very enjoyable.

750mL (bottled 2/2021) into a tulip. After uncapping and uncorking, an unexpected gusher ensues all over the kitchen counter. Might have been too warm? Not sure but not a great start to this review. Pours a slightly hazy golden straw with a billowing white head that subsides rapidly.

Aroma is tart and bright, nicely funky. Sour green apples, Brett yeast.

Taste is likewise tart and crisp, oaky and dry. Bready pale malt, wild yeast.

Mouthfeel is sharp and bright, crisp clean finish.

Overall a nicely complex, drinkable wild ale.

02/21 bottling.

Massivrly overcarbonated, this pours with a giant head on a golden orange body. The nose is clearly saison inspired with a spicy, mildly yeasty note to go with the bright acid, moderately earthy funk and tannins. There's also straw and sweetness present. The palate opens with a blend of sweetness and lemon, bright and refreshing. Yeasty, spicy, moderately estery and fruity. Sweet on the finish, though also dry and snappy. Once the carbonation dies down, the mouthfeel improves. Lemon and tannins linger in the finish. Tasty.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a nice transparent orange with quickly disappearing head. Nose is citrus, tropical fruits, funk, leather, vanilla, creamsicle, and a bit of honey. Taste is sweet upfront, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Citrus, tree sap, leather, and a bitter hoppy note. Pretty good - definitely a mixture of sweet and bitter.

750ml bottle from Jeremy. Very pale golden with a small white, bubbly head. Light citrusy aroma, leafy, barrel funk. Taste is gentle, not overly tart, mildly fruity, light tartness.
