07/21 bottling.
A gorgeous gold with a rapidly receding white head, this has a really lovely color. The nose is quite excellent with a dry, mineral rich Riesling character, dry, dusty, austere and Alsatian in character. The base funk is earthy forest rich, mushroomy. Lactic, woody, earthy funk along with some grapefruit peel. The grape also has a delicate floral, fruity character to it. The palate opens fruity and vinous, floral, mineral rich and tannic. A blend of both, grape skin tannins and oak tannins is present. The mid-palate has oak, grapefruit peel, and all the earthy, mushroom funk you could ask for, so much so that it overpowers the grape. Drying, tannic finish with lingering mineral, petrichor and funk. Lovely.
