A gorgeous reddish pink with a dense, light pink head that falls off to a ring rapidly. The nose is excellent. Softer and more delicate than the other robust red grape de Garde beers (Rochette/Archer/Serine), this is spicy and lightly peppery , has a preserved lemon note and a deep, earthy funk, mildly mineraly. Oak complements the grape skin tannins. Very vinous.
The palate opens fruity and peppery, with light berries, grape, delicately so. Quite vinous, with lots of red wine character, light and fruity. This is complemented by a deep, earthy funk, with wet straw, preserved lemon and woodsy funk. Light in body and moderately tannic, there's a long finish here, drying and tannic with rich fruit. Gorgeous.
