This malt forward lager was brewed for our 5-Year anniversary in collaboration with our good friend and brewer Jeff Goodno. A German Maibock brewed with German malts, hops, and Pure Vermont maple syrup. This brew epitomizes the idea of true collaboration. Prost!

Pours a reddish-copper hue with a thin head into my glass. Sweet malt with soft maple notes. Soft, rich warming malt, fading into a nutty finish with a maple flourish. Nice and sweet. Would love to see it return for the following spring.

L-The beer pours clear and copper. The head is just shy of 2 fingers high and creme colored. The head lingers for a bit but recedes fairly quickly leaving minimal lacing.
S-The nose is a light maple up front giving way to caramel from the malt. The longer the beer sits and warms the more the alcohol comes forward and shows in the finish.
T- The elements in the nose are all well represented here on the palate. The maple up front is light and adds a little sweetness to the beer, but never becomes cloying. The maple recedes or is taken over by the smooth caramel malts. These in turn are overtaken by just enough bitterness and alchohol burn to make this an enjoyable experience.
F-Carbonation for the beer is very light and keeps a medium light mouthfeel firmly rooted to your tongue.
O- This a very well done Maibock, which is a style I'm coming to appreciate more and more. Unlike so many other beers the maple in the beer is done at a perfect level to be enjoyed without being dominant or absent. Really enjoyable and recommended.

Growlette from Winooski Beverage.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a semi-dark bronzed copper color with a good transparency about it. Carbonation seemed barely there to rise, I didn't mind for me, but just something I noticed. Finger's worth of white foamy head slid off fairly quick.
The aroma had the sweet maple up front and then some nice biscuit/bready qualities flowing in underneath just as I wanted it to. Light grassy to earthy hops like a normal Maibock.
The flavor was malty sweet through the prior mentioned aromas to smooth themselves into the aftertaste just as I wanted them to.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied as it seemed to sit just a touch under but I wasn't bothered by that as 14th Star did a great job of preventing any cloying qualities along my tongue. This one is a smooth one and it moves along my tongue just as I expect it to.
Overall, awesome as a "creative" take by 14th and still keeps it's true to style bearing. Would love to have again preferably in Autumn or Spring, odd that I'm sipping it this time of year, but whatever, beer is beer and this is quite good!
