Smelled great, but taste was definitely alcohol heavy ( I know it's 9.99). Good to try once (I tried a 4pk).

Very fruity and smooth for the alcohol content. I can't wait to have more...

What a surprise find in Burlington Vermont on a patio. Really beautiful colour of burnt sienna that would make any wizard worth his weight in spells proud. Sweet! Surprisingly so which seems to come from honey. This one is worth savouring and I sense difficult to find. A delightful find.

Back story: the 9.99% was diligently brewed specifically to that ABV to commend 14th Star's founder Steve Gagner's final 999 days he served in the Army. Thank you for your service, Steve!
As for the beer, this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a honey to burnt orange/biscuit top amber color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that stiffened right before it fell off to leave some marshmallow colored lace. Somewhat starting to speckle and slide out into some spider web.
The aroma had some honey sweetness playing with some grassy to citrusy hops, some light resin light honeysuckle and ended with a little bit of peachy sweetness.
The flavor was mainly sweet swallowing up the citrusy and honeysuckle to honey qualities to revel in a light bitterness rounding it all out pretty nice. Oh wait, here comes the aftertaste and that was somewhat leaning into the honey with the resin and peach.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt appropriate.
Pretty nice smooth sweet finish, somewhat peachy yet bringing in the resin for balance.
Overall, now that's a nice yet different DIPA capable of standing up with the best of the style.

L- The beer pours a lightly hazy amber with a large 3 finger off white head. Retention is good and large islands of lace are left behind.
S- There is a modest aroma of resin followed by some fruity sweetness reminding me of peaches. A bit of alcohol hides beneath these coming to the surface every so often.
T- Well as you would expect with a triple IPA the malt bill here is huge. There is that sweet fruitiness that I pick up in the nose and which I associate with other beers I've had with Warrior hops. I think a lot of IPA drinkers are going to find this beer too sweet. I have a huge sweet tooth, and even I find myself wanting a touch more bitterness in the finish. Resin from the nose is evidenced mostly in the aftertaste.
F- Mouthfeel is a solid medium and sticky. The brew coats your tongue and the resiny aftertaste lasts a good long while.
O- This is a good beer that could be a great beer with a little more added bitterness. I love the individual hop flavor profiles, but feel like it's still finishing sweeter than I'd like it to.
