Can stamped 05/23/18.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a bright bronzed yellow color with a stifling bubbly to ever so slight foamy head. Lace was moderately concave and sliding with the sips.
The aroma is extremely ginger forward, so spicy and sweet up front it pushes some of the Belgian saison yeastiness further back. Light crisp grassy healthy hops try lend a hand to a fair balance but still, they're quite faint. Light tone of woodiness closer to the bottom. Light ginger 'heat' beefs up the front end of this with some warmth.
The flavor yields to the sweet and spicy tone of the ginger and flows nice into some sweet grassy to woody character. Light clean sweet ginger in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Since the ginger imparts a decent spicy harshness, this ends up distracting a little bit along my tongue. Carbonation seemed to feel fine. ABV seemed to be on par.
Overall, ginger forward beer yes with some saison qualities trying to come out. Me, I liked this one but don't honestly see this as a saison. Probably more of a herbed/spiced beer. I know they used a saison yeast, though. I have to admit the quality of this turned out well.
