CITRAMADE

14th Star Brewing Company IPA - Imperial / Double New England IPA

This Citra is mainly orange peel bitter tang, pine, and lemon zest style hop flavor's. Sharp at first, then juicy and smooth. I love one hop only, as you can really focus on its characteristics depending on how well executed the brew is. Lime/pine fin.

Purchased at Elm St Market

On tap at Mulligan's Tavern in Manchester, Vermont.

My imperial pint arrived with a short head, but it was so full that there was minimal room for a head anyway.
The body was cloudy and pale apricot color.

Mouthfeel. Harsh, probably from high acidity, with a medium-full body.

A citrus hop bomb with a high ABV that is too obvious.

An above average IPA that had a lot of west coast elements to it like piney notes, a very sweet malty backbone like graham cracker, and some mild spices as it trails off. Overall it has nice citrus flavors with tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit and faint melon, mixing well with the sweet malt base and some herbal spicy accents. It’s smooth going down and hides the ABV.

Poured from tap at Fire & Ice in Middlebury. Poured lemon opaquish yellow with one fingers worth of head; rapidly recedes but good retention. Great mouth feel - not too thin nor too full - with tastes of sweetish orange peel and good hop backing. Solid.

A: The beer is very hazy and a bit pale yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering both the surface and the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of lime citrus are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell but has additional notes of lychee and hints of passion fruit. Little to no bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied, juicy and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer delivers a strong dose of Citra hops in both the smell and taste, making it worthy of its namesake.

The best beer by 14th star St. Albans by far!! If you love utterly high amounts of Citra hops you can´t pass by. Very refreshing and crushable. Perfect summer after work brew. Cheers!

This was highly recommended by a friend.
I live in Vermont and have access to many high quality choices. This is now in the top. Hazy yellow. Thick white head. Has a melon like smell. Nice bitter aftertaste. With a little tang to it. Winner
