Pours a handsome shade of red-tinted amber, clear with an exuberant foam. Sudsy mouthfeel with a pleasant tangy edge. Some bitterness right away and an odd sweet note.
This is quite malty with a honey taste. Even some peach with a slight astringency. There is a modest bitter aftertaste with a resiny touch. I don't think you would mistake it for anything else in the Pale Ale category, but it's quite drinkable. Just surprisingly rich and fruity. From the 32 oz growler purchased at the Temecula brewery today.

Notes from 08/18/13 - 4oz taster
A: Plateau Pale pours a perfectly clear caramel amber body with a nice half finger of paper white on top. Stubborn and retaining all the way down the drink leaving behind a frosted glass.
S: Oddly I am getting little to no aroma at all on this one. Really poor showing for an APA. There is some light bread and caramel malt sweetness but other than that the nose is fairly disappointing.
T: Caramel malt sweetness leads the flavor profile with just a smidge of hoppy spice and earthy minerals. This beer seems a bit flawed. I can’t quite pinpoint it but there is a distinct off flavor. It is a little buttery. Not like artificial popcorn butter…more like butterscotch. There is a light bitterness to the beer and alcohol is well disguised. All in all a big letdown for one of my favorite styles. This one needs some work.
M: Moderate to lower thickness with a nice creamy texture overall. Slight drying finish. Pretty clean mouthfeel.
D: This Pale definitely needs some tuning. No aroma, no signature West Coast hop flavors, no bueno.
Would not recommend until they can dial this one in some more….a lot more. I just couldn’t get past the buttery off taste.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that tastes better than it smells in my opinion.
