An imperial hefe with grapefruit zest, eh? Let's give her a whirl. The body is harvest orange with glowing highlights along the sides of the mug. Your typical hefe haze runs throughout without muddying things up. Carbonation rises from everywhere to the bulbous, frothy head of pure white. The foam eventually settles to a sturdy crown. It's a handsome beer for sure.
This beer has a really interesting nose. I usually stay away from hefes because of the crazy amount of clove and banana. This one is unique. There are banana esters getting tossed around but it's of the underripe variety. A ton of floral, bordering perfume, qualities jump from the glass. Freshly cracked wheat, still damp, lays a sturdy foundation while soft grapefruit notes and a clean alcoholic bite add depth. The more my nose is in the glass the more I like the smell.
Those banana esters hit upfront, still unripe, before being surpassed by unspecific floral notes while that freshly cracked wheat I mentioned above lays the base. A peppery bite of alcohol hits on the backend and the grapefruit zest isn't noticeable until the swallow. The wheaty twang sticks to the sides of the tongue long after each drink. This is an interesting beer. Well received.
The mouthfeel is right where it should be for the style. The body leans toward light while the carbonation is lively and snappy creating a welcomed frothiness. Drinkabiliy is off the charts, dangerously so. It's a good thing this beer isn't sold in 6-packs. People would be hurtin'
I'm not usually a big hefe fan but this one doesn't even come close to bashing you over the head with banana and clove. It's light, refreshing, floral, and very unique. I'm a big fan of this beer and will look to give Blacklist some more of my money in the future.

Really nice. I'm not usually a hefe fan, but the yeast and zest play real nice.

Opens with a grapefruit, bread and banana nose. Pours a hazy gold under a 2” off-white foam cap. This beer has an interesting flavor profile, beginning with a cake like malt flavor suggesting a sweet caramel honey soaked malt based pound cake at first then the grapefruit flavors come through with the typical hefeweizen yeast flavors of banana and very faint clove appearing late mid-palate leading to a grapefruit rind bitterness on the finish. Creamy, medium full body and very effervescent. The beer highlights the grapefruit flavors throughout, leaving the hefeweizen yeast flavors slightly masked and muted.
