Had this on tap. It was one of the worst beers I’ve ever drank that wasn’t infected or had a serious flaw. Nothing like a hefe. Whatever the chocolate or cocoa they used threw something way off. Boozey hot mess.

The cork releases with a loud pop while a thin white mist escapes from the bottle. It is a beautiful bright dark brown pour under a persistent rocky 2" tan foam cap that takes 2 minutes to drop to a thick film and then stays and marks each drink with a thin ledge of lace. Streams of bubbles rapidly rise from the bottom of the glass. Cocoa aromas are detectable from over three feet away and are the predominant aroma joined by moist bread, spice and faint banana. It has a very creamy palate with lots of chocolate and a mild bitter. Mild banana shows up in the aftertaste and traces of clove hide in the background. the banana flavors grow as the beer warms. Imperial Cocoa Hefeweizen has a very creamy, chewy body with above average carbonation. There is no astringency and the alcohol is smooth and mildly warming. There is nothing harsh or hot. this is a very rich and satiating beer that cries out for bourbon barrel aging.

This pours a pitch black.
The head is extremely thick, maybe I poured it wrong. It is brown colored, and frothy.
The nose has the wheat aroma, mixed with chocolate notes.
The taste of this beer - after the head went down - I get a very strong chocolate taste. I do also get the banana feel that you get in a traditional wheat beer, but just not right away. Very interesting beer.
