Canned 12/26/17; drank 4/24/18 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
A violent pour yielded a nice tan head; strong lace.
Tart raspberry, coffee grounds & some trash water notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Coffee grounds & tart raspberry flavors up front; mild pine bite on the finish.
Robust, like a RIS, but fairly unpleasant as well. Maybe this was better hyper fresh but it's not worth quaffing at the 4 month mark.

A very dry and surprisingly hoppy stout. Yeast presence is pretty high on the smell as well. Actually feels more like a lighter russian imperial than an american double. Still a fine beer, but nothing special

12oz, canned on 12/26/17. Dark brown body with a tall, silky khaki head that slowly fades. More of a fresh Simcoe hoppy nose with some dark chocolate, roast & char in the background with a hint of anise. Bold and roasty flavors with notes of dark baker's chocolate, anise, and burnt caramel, but then the pungent & piney hops take over with a bitter demise of the palate. Full body, pleasant carbonation, finishing far too bitter. I was super excited to see this on the shelf, but maybe it needs some time to mellow out for a few months; I like bitter beers, but this is much too bitter for what I expect in an Imperial Stout.

A-almost black in color with about three fingers worth of tan colored head
S-dark chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla
T-dark chocolate, dark coffee, some light dark fruits
M-light to medium body and light to moderate carbonation
Overall needs a bigger body to be a really great stout but has a nice amount of roast and is pretty smooth
