Dark penny body that when held in direct light becomes more amber tinted, no head. Tart cherry and oak dominate the smell, with some brown sugar malt, apple, and vanilla supporting. Taste is tart cherry all the way through, with sour oak building, plus subtle brown sugar, grape, apple, pear, very slight vinegar, and maybe a touch of sour raspberry. Body is appropriately tart and malt, plus has a crisp carbonation level that really lets the sour fruit come to the forefront. Nice work penrose!

Pours a dark copper color with almost no head. Aroma of cherry. Taste is tart cherry all the way through, plus subtle brown sugar. Flavor is tart with a crispness that brings a sour fruit finish.

12.68oz heavy bottle poured into a snulip shows a ruddy, brownish, clear, but opaque body and briefly floats a proud 3/4in cap of off-white mixed bubbles, leaving a clean glass behind.
Aromas of oak, tart cherries, and grape must flow into the taste and it drinks a bit bigger than 7.8%. It's really not boozy, but definitely noticable: highlighted by barrel and tannin notes. A fruity, yeasty character is sour for sure but gets reined in by the oak, vanilla, and malt.
Mouthfeel is medium, almost fizzy on the tongue, but not over carbonated.
Overall a fine blend of barrel, fruity yeast, and wild cultures.
