Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 fl oz can on July 11, 2019. Hopped with Lotus and Experimental 10416. Notes of cotton candy and passion fruit aromas. Feel is soft with a pillowy body.

First off, I love how Penrose names their stuff “Hazy Midwest IPAs”, because to me that implies you’re going to get a cloudy juicy New England style mixed with a hoppy bitter West Coast Style. And like usual with their beers labeled that way, this one delivers. Pouring a cloudy pale gold with a healthy frothy head and lacing, the aromas and flavors on this are best described as somehow subtle but strong. A plethoric forefront of orange and lemon citrus blends well with a bitter and malty background. Mouth watering and with a stronger alcohol presence than a 7.7% ABV would imply, this is a big bodied beer that is easy to drink. I really dig this one, maybe the best of the “best of both worlds” style that these guys excel at. Easily my favorite beer I’ve tried from Penrose so far.

Pours clear and reasonably light. No nose. But super crisp and tasty. Great beer.

On tap at the brewery - Geneva, IL. Hazy tangerine colored body is topped by a foamy off-white head that sticks to the glass. Fruity orange and grapefruit citrus aroma. Very zesty hop forward flavors - tangerine, grapefruit, Mandarin orange, along with passion fruit and lemon-lime in the background; malt is mild but a bit nutty and biscuity. Medium body, moderate carbonation, dry and semi-bitter finish. Good all around; no complaints here.
