Cask at the Southampton Arms. This looks darker than a lot of the other bitters I've had. The flavor is a lot like dark bread crust and generally more intense in all of its features than some other bitters as well. It feels a bit fuller bodied, slightly heavier than typical for the style. Overall I think it's a very unique and impressive interpretation of a bitter and certainly worth a try if you see it.

From the engine at Tap East, a mile from where it was brewed. How authentic can that get today?
This London's Best Bitter Looks the part, a nice amber and leaves a lovely lace around the glass. Smells are mostly malt as it should be, but I'm not sticking my nose into anything particularly distinctive. Tastes are well-balanced and then the hops (or some herb) creates the authentic slightly dry, very subtle, finish. Medium-mouthed on its way to a better bitter.
As for the very good Overall Hugs I give Howling Hops, that's because their 10-10-10 is a unique take on how the taproom serves the community. 10 brews, 10 tanks behind a 10 foot bar. Fresh as it gets. And apparently, they have great food; having nailed the LatinX fusion. I can't wait to visit.
