I'm a fan.
This is my 31st rating of Off Color brews, only 4 are below the average.
So in truth, I'm a biased fan.
I also am the first review on this experimental brew (to me, at least since they are playing with apple cider here to find a new yeast.) ... And they did a good experiment, but probably not a breakthrough on this quasi-fusion effort.
To describe The Berm in two words: Refreshing, interesting.
To follow the routine.... Berm Looks better than average, a bubbly blonde who doesn't really tell you what is going on inside. Smells and Tastes align well, I get the malts sweetened by an apple-derived yeast. Bitter is low (25), yet it is just enough for balance. In the mouth, I get a slight metallic taste... but otherwise, Berm sits there nice and does its job; scrubbing my palate for food. And it was my summer ratatouille. Berm paired nicely, and even made my cooking seem good.
Finally, a thought on the yeast: as a Belgo-phile, I have admired Off Color's thoughtful renditions of the most difficult style within which to brew consistently well. And like all but a handful of brewers on this side of the English Channel, Off Color has had its QC problems... which I usually blame on the Belgian yeast not being isolated or kept properly (but then, I only know what I taste.)
All that said, bringing in apple cider fermentation is an interesting experiment on a bedeviling yeast problem. Off Color may even be close to solving the problem. For that, I say "Bravo!" and encourage you to give The Berm a try.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
