TASTING NOTES
A robust dose of mango, passion fruit, and pear is added to our farmhouse ale and imparts overtones of a tropical riesling cocktail. The explosive fruit mouthfeel is luscious with hints of honeysuckle yet finishes silky smooth.

SECRET TECHNIQUE
After digesting all the malt sugars, our usually carnivorous farmhouse ale is fed a tropical cornucopia of mango, passion fruit, and pear juices. The post-fermentation tropical feast results in the final beer retaining a huge amount of juicy aromatics that would otherwise be lost if the fruit was added any earlier in the brewing process.

INGREDIENTS
Pils and Flaked Wheat malts, Azacca hops, Mango, Passion Fruit, Pear juices

Slightly hazy light golden color with a moderate but lasting white head and some decent lacing.
The aroma is light caramel malt and mango.
The taste is light caramel leading with mango, pear and passion fruit right behind, mildly sweet. The finish is somewhat dry with lingering fruit notes balanced by citrus/pine hops.
The body is light/medium, adequate carbonation, smooth and very drinkable.
Altogether, this is an interesting take on a saison with tropical fruit nicely balanced. Goes well with most food, tasty and refreshing enough for a summer cooler but I would drink this anytime, outstanding.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of mango, spices, caramel and toffee. Strong, sweet mango presence with caramel some spice.

Poured from a can. Golden and slightly hazy with a large white head. Didn't get a lot of the fruit added on the smell but it comes through in the flavor. Flavor is full and diverse, it's a farmhouse for sure but with the added fruit the flavor is like nothing else in this category. Unique and tasty, this is a winner.

Another creative hit from Off Color! Fruit notes come through very nicely and the pils hops give it a nice balance. Don’t pass up this one!

While I don't understand the rationale for OCB's experiments (which are many in the saison space), I am starting to discern a pattern. Not to brag and really more to backup that statement: I've had 130+ OCB brews on BA and counted 415+ as repeats on Untappd. 3/4 are probably saisons. I think I understand them as well as I need to.

Much like most OCB's Predator-derived saisons, Eat Prey has a huge fluffy head that dissipates into dishwater by the end of the glass. But the initial attraction is then met with aromatics of a truly tropical beer, dare I say beverage. (OCB's description of how they did that is in BA's notes when I added this brew: basically, OCB adds the fruit late.) Despite the fruit juice, this is a balanced brew (possibly one of my mysteries of the universe.) In my mouth, medium-to-light but just fine at scrubbing away the fats from foods.

I started this can at lunch and it was fine to wash down a simple soup and bread. Dinner was a dairy-laden lasagna primavera, and Eat passed that grease-cutting test also... but it did not significantly improve the meal as Predator always seems to.

This is my first of a 4-pack. I will revisit this review when Spring actually comes as that suits this saison most.

3/13/23 Under suspicion of an early Spring, I had a second copy and made minor edits to the review above and stand by my rating. But I still do not understand why Mango was released in January when June is when Spring is certain in Chicago.
