This massive Imperial Stout is made with Golden Promise, caramel and chocolate malts, and belgian candi sugar. We then boiled it for 6 hours and put it in bourbon barrels in which they have rested for a year. Dark, rich and smooth flavors of molasses, marshmallow, coconut and dark fruits.

Ink black body with thin, wispy, light brown sworls of tannish streaks of foam; a few silky legs of foam streak down the inside of the glass. Nice flat sweetness with touches of roasted grain and a faint boozy undercurrent; cocoa. Rich flavors; deep milk chocolate and mild grain char; initially subtle bourbon taste that grows in intensity towards the finish. Chewy body; rich and thick on the palate; hefty residual sugar presence coats the tongue; alcohol heat simmers beneath the sweetness.
This is my favorite of the three 'Not A Speck of Light ' beers offered from Verboten. It's a heavy hitting beer. I don't see any need to add things like cinnamon or mocha like the other varieties do. The relative simplicity of an imperial American stout with some judicious bourbon barrel aging is wondrous enough.
Pouring temperature: 45 °F; canning data: unknown
