Killer Boots is a Verboten original. This ale is one of our best sellers - an English-style porter with a pleasing roasty character and nice chocolate notes. We then infuse the porter with house made caramel at the end of the fermentation, giving it a nice, smooth finish.

12oz can. No dating information found.
Dark brown colored body. One finger of light tan head, and this becomes a bubble fed ring. No lacing but a minor surface storm.
Aroma of toasted caramel malts and milk chocolate.
Taste is sweet and toasty. Caramel malts and lots of chocolate (but not as sweet as in the nose). Touch of vanilla. Aftertaste is a smooth fade out.
Medium mouth feel. Produces a slight tongue sting. Okay carbonation.
Easy drinking and slightly sweet, with the general flavor of chocolate and caramel.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Sweet chocolate taste with toffee, caramel and a mild bitterness.

12 oz. Can
PKG: 122820
ABV: 6%

Poured into a Tired Hands glass a very nice dark brown/black color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger plus light tan head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice chocolate/toffee notes, some vanilla, licorice. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice chocolate/toffee, vanilla, licorice, nice little sweetness. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer.

My bestie from Charlotte, NC gave me a can of this beer. It poured an opaque dark with no head and no lace. The scent had subtle roast and a tinge of anise. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with vanilla, molasses and hints of chocolate presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

This is an excellent porter. Definite notes of caramel and chocolate but not overly sweet at all. I hadn't had anything from these guys yet but I will certainly look for their stuff in my area. Realistically it's not that far a drive to get to their brewery, but in these times I'll probably just try to get it at my local liquor store again. Well done, Verboten.

12 oz can with no date. The caramel is not overdone but more subtle notes. Other flavors of chocolate and roasted malt. Finishes slightly sweet. Feels a bit thin but has good carbonation.

On tap.

Near-black with minimal head.

The nose and taste are roast, peanut, chocolate, and light caramel.

The mouthfeel is light but not too thin.

Overall, solid. Would order again.

$ 12.58 (Including shipping)/bomber ($ 0.617) from Tavour, Seattle, WA. Reviewed 12/8/18.
No date on bottle but a sticker on the back reads “09 2618”, stored at 42 degrees and served at 50 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 54 degrees.
Appearance – 4.25.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, penetration occurs at the ring only. Some effervescence.
Head – Large (maximum six cm, aggressive center pour), tan, high density, convex crown above rim, good retention, diminishing to a four mm ring fed by effervescence and connected to lacing and a complete layer, with some isolated islands of lacing remaining as the head retracts.
Lacing – Excellent! Wide partial rings of tiny bubbles connected by multiple short columns.
First pour – Medium brown, slight haze.
Aroma – 4 – The caramel hits you nose first, followed by a general roasted malt goodness.
Flavor – 4.25 - Surprisingly, the caramel from the nose is not so predominant in the flavor; the first thing I notice is a slightly bitter roasted malt. The caramel shows up in the aftertaste. In between there are chocolate notes. No distinct hops, no alcohol (6% ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 4.25 – An excellent take on an English porter – looks great, smells great, tastes great. I wish I had purchased a few more bombers.

L: Hazy brown color with a creamy white head and no lacing.

S: Coffee and chocolate with a note of sweet caramel, and a little toffee.

T: Sweet caramel, mixed with a coffee and chocolate, a medium bitterness, not overly sweet but nicely balanced.

F: Body feels slightly light for a porter bit low creamy carbonation is nice.

O: This is a very nice porter the caramel adds a nice sweetness but it is balanced out by the rest of the beer.
