"West Coast" has become synonymous with hoppy beer, yet Wick's version isn't refered as an IPA but as a strong ale. Whatever, one pint for me please. On-tap at the source, on to the beer:
It's orange color registers darker on the scale, and is topped with an inch of creamy head which retains very well on top. Adding to the show is line upon line of lace ringing around the glass as the beer is consumed. The aroma is modestly hoppy; not stereotypical West Coast over-the-top hoppy, but is plesant. Resin, pine, pineapple provide the aromas.
Pleasantly hoppy, and not over the top. Pine and caramel toast make this beer good, and then there's that distinct grapefruit and orange note which tells you that this is West Coast beer. It's medium bodied and smooth, and not too bitter.
Sticking with a theme, West Coast Strong is pleasantly hoppy. Don't expect another Ruination; expect, as one bartender put it, an "entry level IPA", though I think that's a very conservative description.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
