The place has Tom Selleck's face painted on the side of the building. Why I do not know. Has a creepy cool vibe, with death overtones, i.e Burial.
Went in to pick up a few sixes, they produce absolutely outstanding brews. That's how you get to be a top tier Brewery in America's best craft beer town

Cool place. The death theme is not over the top but its there..e.g. a display of shovels is near the front entrance. They like scythes too. There is also this love affair with Tom Selleck going on, apparently they celebrate his birthday. There is "velvet Tom Selleck" picture near the entrance and you can buy a Tom Selleck t-shirt in the velvet style. Lastly, there is a huge painted mural on one of the outside walls of Tom Selleck and Sloth from the Goonies, embracing and smiling. Interesting choices in decor for sure, but the beer is why you go. And you need to go.

Went here with my wife (who despises IPA’s) and she found two that she wanted to take home with her! Vibe is grungy, but in the good way. Add a healthy obsession with Tom Selleck and you got yourself an awesome brewery!

this place is epic, one of the cooler breweries i have visited. they have a cool space perched on a hillside, with one of the more unique spaces out there. we walk up from the street on the side to a sprawling outdoor courtyard sort of area, with terraces at different levels with picnic tables, a stage, and lots of foliage. they also have some local artists and vendors set up around their little campus here, folks selling prints and jewelry and air plants and that kind of thing, some cool instrumental jazz type tune are being played live, and up the hill is the brewery structure with a food truck built right into the side of it. food from the truck was diverse and tasty too! inside there are two bars, both with different and awesome selections of beers. the bar in the back, which actually i think is the front, is their main taproom area, with the brewing equipment and some barrels and a few picnic tables there, smaller than i thought considering they send some beer all the way out to colorado. between both bars they probably have 20 or more beers on tap, everything from hoppy to wild to barrel aged, and all of them are killer. the honey ipa blew us all away, but all of them were awesome, including a table brett beer, a sangiovese wild ale, and all kinds of east coast hoppy hazy stuff. service was really solid for how busy they were. people just sort of scattered around the property in different zones doing their thing, its mellow but bustling at the same time. the beer is amazing, they have some cans and bottles to go too, a must stop if you are in town here! every bit as good as we hoped it would be, and a wonderful place to hang out! lots to look at, tons of unique beers!

This place has an awesome set up. Reminds me of being out in an old barn/shed in the middle of a corn field. They have lots of beers on tap and all the cans that they sell in the cooler are available in singles as well. They are quick at serving you and very friendly.

If I lived in Asheville, I'd visit here weekly, like I try to visit Carton (in my home town) a couple times a month, Nothing beats fresh beer in the company of beer fans.

Visited for the first time last weekend. The place is really cool. They had seating outside in the front and outside in the side. A permanent food truck that served excellent food out back as well. Beers are solid to say the least and many were exceptional. The front bar has 2 bartenders and seemed to get busy quick. They also have a back bar that has some different choices as well.

Visited Burial on the suggestion of a friend and was not disappointed. Nothing fancy here, just a rustic-looking place with a bar, a few tables, efficient and friendly staff, and some solid beers. I will be making Burial a regular stop on my trips to Asheville.

A really stylish joint serving great beer in a comfortable atmosphere. It was crowded when we went and thus very difficult to communicate with the bartenders, and there were no servers walking around to assist you. Still, a very cool experience worth checking out if you're ever in town.

Now with food on site, Salt & Smoke, a permanent food trailer in the courtyard. Expanded outdoor seating and second set of taps.

The added a much needed area at the bar to order a beer, as the previous method of ordering over the heads of people sitting at the bar just didn't work for both walk ups and those at the bar.

I went here twice on my recent Asheville visit. This is my kind of place. Very dungeony, medieval, doom metal themes everywhere, and good music on the speakers. Nice bar inside, tables and barrels to stand or sit at out front and in the beer garden out back. Lots of good beer to choose from, and sampler flights allowing you to easily find your favorites. There seemed to be a leaning towards Belgian styles when I was there, with several different saisons on tap, and a very good adjunct dubbel (Planet of Doom). But there were also some good IPAs and porters/stouts available as well. No complaints about the service. I don't think there was food, but they let you bring your own.

Visiting this place is a must. Actually, all things considered, it has the potential to be my favorite brewery in Asheville.

Additionally, prepare yourself for a massively premium bar hop when you come to this part of the city. All within easy walking distance: Funkatorium, Tasty, Asheville Brewing, Burial, Green Man, Twin Leaf. It's hard to beat this neighborhood as far as beer venues goes. I'd say this is the true heart of Asheville right here.

Out of all the places I visited in Asheville, this was one of the best. It is a real dive of a building, and when you first walk up most folks are sitting outside on picnic tables, standing in circles, or leaning against a fence all having a pint. Walking into the building there is a smaller outside bar with a few beers and some more concrete and picnic tables. Going further in the building you get to the bigger bar and notice the mob of folks here trying to get a beer. It was like this on two different days I stopped here. I noticed about 10 on draft, and while I waited to get a beer, they erased two choices !!! But they were quickly replaced with new ones. Wide variety of styles, and wonderful names like Donut Skillet, Fall of the Rebel, and Massacre of the Innocents kept it all interesting listening to folks ordering. Every beer I had over two visits were delicious, full flavored and satisfying. At all bars, brewpubs, and restaurants when I asked the bartender or waitress the one place I must visit, this was named the most by the locals.

The brewery is pretty awesome. Its very rustic with a modern touch. I prefer that to a shiny new "bigger is better" type of a place. Do not take that as Burial is not clean and orderly, it is. I was very cozy, and there was ample seating whether it be at the bar or two other indoor seating areas. Id love to see it in the spring to enjoy their tasty brews (that Donut Skillet was killer!) outside. A great use of the space in my mind. There was plenty for everyone as far as the beer selection went. My only complaint would have to be with the service side. Having worked in the service industry I always give the benefit of the doubt. We received everything we asked for, but the guys working the bar just had zero enthusiasm and seemed like they were having a bad day. I thought nothing of it at first and smiled and said thank you. It was the same way the next go round and it rubbed me the wrong way. Smile, you work at a awesome brewery! I will be back. The beer is killer.

Arrived right as they opened at 2 PM on a Friday. Actually, went in a bit early--was greeted and served even though not officially open. Seemed small, but there is a pretty large seating area in the back. Brewhouse equipment just down from the bar. Good selection of stuff. Did a flight and all were above average. Was not able to stay long--hoping to get back here again. Definitely a top notch place.

The taproom is in the brewing facility. This is my 2nd or 3rd visit and service has always been excellent and knowledgeable, even for a brewery taproom. More seating than expected, especially if the weather is good enough to take advantage of the outdoor seating.
Flights of 4 four oz samples available and recommended.

Great establishment. They had a good selection of beers on tap with a solid representation of most styles. I am so glad I decided to go to this brewery.

visited for a beer while we were in Asheville. Within walking distance of the city center, down the hill.

small building that has a bar and some brewing equipment. out back there is an outdoor area with picnic tables, and the outer wall has a crazy mural of Tom Selleck and Sloth from Goonies.

They had a selection of draft beer and some cans to go. Both beers had were solid.

Great vibe in the warehouse type of facility in the back of the downtown Asheville area. In the middle of a ton of breweries so easy to get a lot of bang for your buck from this location.

They had a small outdoor area out front, and a large outdoor area in the back that looks like it could handle a ton of people. The inside bar matched their sort of "industrial" vibe in a good way.

Beer is above average and priced very well (as was all the Asheville breweries).

Visited the week before Halloween, so Burial was in their element. Located on a back street in Asheville, NC - kind of hard to find, and parking is a challenge. We found a space that looked quasi-legal and didn't get a ticket (or towed), so it was all good.

Very gritty place in a old warehouse (or something), but what a nice vibe. Bartender was friendly and helpful. No food, but you can't have everything. Dog-friendly, which is a plus in my opinion. Good selection of beers. I'd certainly return!

Super cool place! The atmosphere and setting was great. A really great place to just hang out. They even had games out back.

They had good variety on tap and what I had was great.

Do not skip this one if you are brewery hopping in the area.

Fantastic little brewery, tons of room to grow and the sky is the limit for them! Food wasn't available when I went, but the beer selection was fantastic, and the atmosphere was just grungy/dirty enough to feel right.

No food, but 12 beers on tap in an old garage in an industrial area of Asheville. The tap list is posted online at their website, which is nice, and the staff is really attentive. Again, this is a no-frills joint. No air conditioning as the seating for the bar is directly adjacent to the brewing equipment. There are a variety of vintage farm tools on the walls, and all of the tap handles are made from similar such vintage farm tools. There are various pictures of Tom Selleck as Magnum P.I. and Sloth from the Goonies adorning the walls as well.

I absolutely love the feel and decor of this very original brewery. Great live band, with a low key volume and some fantastic beers. The selection was a touch limited, none my wife liked, but the funky grungy look made up for it.

Nice brewery. The location is in the more industrial looking part of Asheville. Burial has all sorts of farming tools for the tap handles and it really fits in with the rustic semi-run-down, patched up looking building. I like it. I think it's got a nice charm to it. The bar tenders were really nice and it was a really laid back atmosphere. They made sure we got good pours (one of the taps was malfunctioning so they wouldn't serve us the beer that might taste off) and were generally really knowledgeable about their beers. Good selection too of many beer styles available. I would come here again and hope they do well enough to keep growing.
