This beer was reviewed from a crowler with some notes relating to a draught pour.
A rich amber and almost clear (SRM 8-10). The fine, creamy head is almond and reaches two inches. After two minutes, the head settles to a quarter inch, leaving patches of lace on a Pretentious Beer Glass Company dimpled mug. The draught pour had a distinctive cascading effect and straight-line carbonation.
Well, this clearly smells like Tiramisu. Whipped cream and vanilla are very distinct, with cinnamon in the background. Sweet Angel Food Cake is also unmistakable. Warmth draws out nutmeg. None of these are pungent, and the spice is nothing like most spice or pumpkin beers. Rather, the subtlety is very well done.
Everything from the nose transfers cleanly to the flavor. From the crowler, flavors are less defined and more muddled than the draft pour. Unquestionably and unsurprisingly, the draughtt version was superior and would score higher than shown here. The finish is long and moderate, primarily focused on shortbread flavors. Cognac is barely noticeable from the crowler, while on draught it was subtle yet clear. Coffee is also diminished in the crowler, even though a participant.
A medium body and nylon texture. Alcohol is absent as expected. Carbonation is fizzy. Again, the draught version was closer to what I suspect was the brewer's desired effect, particularly in that the draught version was creamy.
Understandably, nitro beers are best on draught. From my experience, the to-go containers really only hold up for a few hours. Still, these beers are good beyond that time-frame. I enjoyed this crowler after clearing leaves on a cool, breezy Autumn afternoon.
