Originally reviewed March 21, 2007. On tap at the brewpub. Pour of glowing ruddy cloud, with crisp ruddy froth, tinted. Aroma goes boldly with balsamic vinegars, before sliding into a more restrained cherry juice and apple cider acidity. Somewhere between a Red and a Brown. Flavor carries respective apple skins, sour cherry juice and parching pits. Luscious and parching, somehow at the same time. Seems slightly vapid in the sense of nuance and character, but to create a clean, well-duplicated sour in the states, Im impressed. Finishes it biting and lemony, with a great sense of refreshment. Well done.

Oh baby! Saw this and raced down to try it. I've missed Dwight's other Belgian offerings. Now there's two, this flemish red-style, and a Belgian white which I'll try later.
Loved this! Wonderful murky cherry wood color. Great lace that hugs the glass, and squeezes my fancy. Smell is a little hard to appreciate in the pub; the kids (4 and 8) and I thought it smelled like berries - cherries, raspberries, strawberries - and caramel with a bit of red wine.
Taste a little plum, dried apricot before a nice tartness like that found in a very delicious eating apple; the sour is nothing that slaps the face. Lots of dark wood, a little astringency, but it's just a flash-in-the-pan, then raspberries, blackberries. Smooth, creamy and sour. So drinkable, but doesn't waste any of the palate. It's a totally engaging beer with character and drinkability.... My lord, I wish I still lived within walking distance of this great brewpub.
