500 mL bottle picked up at the brewery earlier this week and served well-chilled. The label deems it a "session pale ale", though at 5.4% that's kind of a stretch, I'd say.

Pours a somewhat foggy golden-amber hue, with one finger of dense, creamy white froth seated atop. It wilts within a matter of minutes, leaving behind a lovely curtain of continuous lacing as it is reduced to a wide, foamy collar and thin, patchy cap. Citrusy orange and grapefruit on the nose, with hints of peach, honeydew melon and canteloupe, and faint suggestions of pine resin and earthy hops.

The malts were basically unnoticeable within the aroma, but the first sip confirms their presence, with some biscuity, bready notes and a light, caramelized sweetness. They're followed up by hoppy flavours of grapefruit pith, peach, orange and melon, with the profile ending on an earthy, resiny, bitter note that lasts into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation levels that provide a gentle bite. Crisp and refreshing. One thing I will add is that after I poured the bottoms in, the flavour became less astringent/sharp and more well-rounded - and something I could see myself wanting to drink multiples of.

Final Grade: 3.79, a B+. Maybe it's only because I am the epitome of an anti-morning person, but I found Forked River's Dysania to make for a pretty enjoyable quaff. This is not an exciting pale ale, but it's a well-structured one, equipped with a sturdier malt spine than most "session" pales, and an approachable hop presence. I wouldn't get up at the crack of dawn for more, but if the price was right, this is a beer that I would not mind drinking regularly.
