473 mL can purchased at the brewery late last month; dated Nov 23 2017 and served slightly chilled. Having loved the raspberry edition, I've been looking forward to this review for a while.

Pours a muddy, turbid apricot colour with a slight reddish-amber tinge, producing just over a finger's width of frothy white foam. It recedes completely in under five minutes, with a soapy film and creamy-looking collar carrying on its legacy; a messy coat of uneven lacing has also been left behind. Strawberry purée is predominant on the nose, accompanied by hints of milk sugar, lychee and tropical fruit. I've gotta hand it to them: it pretty much smells like a strawberry milkshake.

While the aroma might lead you to believe that this is purely a fruit beer, the flavour profile does its best to remind you that this is technically still an IPA. Citrusy grapefruit and orange are definitely noticeable amidst the juicy strawberry purée, as is the lactose sweetness, which remains a persistent presence throughout the sip. Muddled hints of passion fruit and lychee arise mid-sip, but are soon nudged out by a mild, pithy bitterness nearer the finish; however, this proves to be brief as the aftertaste has almost no bitterness whatsoever - rather, it consists more of a saccharine strawberry-citrus combo which fades from the palate within a second or two. Medium-full body, with low to moderate carbonation levels that delicately tickle the surfaces of the palate; quite smooth and slick, though not quite as silky as the raspberry variant. Highly quaffable, with the strawberry and hop flavours present at a nearly 1:1 ratio - and that's a relief, because poorly balanced strawberry beers can be quite cloying.

Final Grade: 3.99, a high B+. For Forked Shake Strawberry Daiquiri Edition is a fine brew that I'd happily recommend to other BAs. I'll admit to preferring the raspberry variant - but in all fairness, when it comes fruit beer, I tend to prefer raspberry over strawberry to begin with, so personal tastes are a particularly relevant consideration here. The tartness of the raspberry added a unique dimension that seemed to play better with the hops in the previous variant, whereas the sweetness of the strawberry in this one (while yummy) merely reinforces what the lactose is already doing. Still, this was a fun brew to sample, and I'd pick it up again in the future.
